Description: Atlantic Beach, North Carolina is known in eastern North Carolina as one the prime places to enjoy great seafood. Every time I drive through the city, I see fishermen bringing fresh seafood for people like myself to eat. One day, I decided to take my family to Channer Maker Restaurant after reading reviews from Tripadvisor. The reviews seem to favor this restaurant, so we decided to eat there.
The Service
I found myself enjoying the service of this restaurant. My family and I were greeted by a very nice waitress. She was very attentive. She was very quick with our drinks and ensured that our food was out and ready. My only downfall with her was when I asked her about the special (I shall explain in detail later on). Other than that, I felt that she was very confident and pleasant enough that I did not feel that she was too annoying.
The Food
I decided to order an appetizer. I ordered the so-called award-winning clam chowder. I must admit that when someone gives the title award-winning on a food item on a menu that it means that it is a desperate attempt to sell an unpopular item. When I received my appetizer and tasted, I was proven wrong. The clam chowder was very delicious. It was very delicious that I was scooping the bowl. Do I think this clam chowder is award-winning? No but I found this appetizer very delicious.
I looked at the special for tonight. The special was lasagna seafood. I asked about this special to my waitress, and she said that it is very delicious. Also, the this special had the words award-winning. When i received my meal, I was not pleased at the look of my meal. It seem that it was an experiment that had gone wrong. I decide to ignore and eat it. The lasagna had too little seafood and too much cheese. The cheese overpowered my meal that I couldn't finish my meal. I was disappointed because was arguably the priciest meal on the meal for $21.
I was willing to overlook my meal because my wife had ordered a delicious fish plate that I thought about ordering. The fish was cooked wonderfully according to my wife. Moreover, I liked the kids menu that served burger and fries.
Atmosphere
I enjoyed eating. When you sit outside of the restaurant, you can view the ocean. I found this to be relaxing and pleasant. Inside the restaurant, the place was a mixture of romantic scene, sports bar, and family restaurant. I felt that I had nice options of where I wanted to sit. My only problem was the horrible parking lot. It is small and cramp, so a person may have a bit of trouble getting out of the parking lot.
Price
I thought the price was reasonable for a seafood restaurant. My only complaint was my meal, which is no way a $21 meal but more like a $13 because I felt like I was paying for mainly the cheese and not the seafood. Other than that, I felt that the value we received was worth the cost.
Thoughts
I thought this restaurant was pretty good and want to give this restaurant another chance. I feel that if I order a fish item that I would be more pleased. This is not the best seafood in Atlantic Beach or eastern North Carolina for that matter, but it is worth checking out at least once.
