You should definitely stay away from the beef and pork, which are tough and tasteless, and eat as much of the fresh seafood as possible. If you don't like seafood, I don't recommend bothering with that part of Costa Rica. Try the ceviche, mostly mahi mahi marinated in citrus juice. They serve it with saltines, which is a little boring, but the flavor of the seafood makes up for it. Everything is very cheap, unless you're the type to eat at the hotel every day, and that's a big mistake. Try the little places right on the beach.
