Fareways is located within the resort on Massanutten Mountain. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have a full bar and entertainment on weekends. While some of the entrees are pricey, they do offer early bird specials, which are quite good, and daily specials. Not having to leave the resort for a good meal is a plus.

The Fairways is convenient and the food is excellent. Before or after dining, the lounge area is a great place to relax and unwind. The early bird prices are great value.

The Fareway's Restaurant overlooks one of the golf courses at the Massanutten resort. The menu is comparable to a restaurant at a golf club, but it has a children's menu. There is a nice bar off to the side, so getting a nice drink is not a problem. I had a merlot from a local winery. I noticed from looking at other tables that iced tea flows freely from the pitcher.

I started with the shrimp bisque. It was excellent! I had a caesar salad -- very well done. The description mentioned anchovies, but I had trouble detecting it, if it was indeed there. For the main entrée, I had the southwestern grilled duck. It was a breast of duck grilled and then sliced into medallions and placed on a bed of corn, back beans and some kind of southwestern salsa. It was served with rice on the side that I can't describe except to say that it was good. For dessert, I had the Toll House Pie a la mode and a coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream!
