Having been to this restaurant before (admittedly a couple of years ago) we thought it would be the perfect place for a birthday get together for 6 of us. How wrong were we?! A veggie burrito cost nearly a tenner and we did all get only 1 of whatever we ordered (not the usual Mexican style of doing things!) So the food was very bland and overpriced, sometimes you can live with that if you're having a great time. What was really annoying was the surly waitresses wearing tops so high and jeans so low that their midriff was about all you could see. After one member of staff started to mop up around us ready to go (9.45pm on a Thursday night) these same waitresses sat on a table opposite staring at our party and obviously willing us to go. When we had the cheek to finish off our drinks, they had the notion to throw a lime at one of my friends - I think just to make sure we really got the hint. It was without doubt the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I don't know if it has changed management or something but it has definitely gone very far downhill. Avoid at all costs!!!

Lovely atmosphere and decor but the food is terrible. They constantly ask if you need more drinks, presumably the many hen parties they get in don't notice the fact that the bland food is about as Mexican as Marks and Spencers.

Fiesta Mehicana

Expensive for the quality, but the quantity is relatively high.

As one of only two (I think) places in York serving Mexican food, Fiesta enjoys a lack of competition, and does not really offer anything very special. The staff is friendly, but the place does get very busy and is popular with young people. It also caters for parties, so do not expect prompt service. However, the food is fresh, and they will cater to people with allergies and special dietary requirements.

From journal I love Old York
