Fire + Meat = Mmmmm......

Fire + Meat = Mmmmm......

It was a hot Sunday afternoon, and I realized that it was time for lunch for my family. My wife and I had passed by Picanha many times, always seeing the sign for that $14.95 special brunch deal. I figured that we should take advantage of this deal.

What Is This Restaurant About?
This restaurant is a Brazilian restaurant that I consider a high-class buffet. You come in the restaurant and a server will sit you down. You are given a circle card- one side red, one side green. If you want food, you turn the card green and get servers that give you different meats. When you want to stop, you flip the card red. The have a buffet line where you can get up from your seat and get salad, fruits, cheese, and different kinds of other things. However, you want come here because you want to taste the different kind of meat that will be served to you. Basically, unlike other buffet restaurant where you have to go to the food, the food comes to you.

Atmosphere
This restaurant is hard to find, unless you happen to do homework. It is surrounded by an IMAX theater, a movie theater, and a BBQ restaurant. Once you find this place, the place inside is nicely set up from the tables to the bar. When my family and I arrived at the restaurant, it was empty. I could see why the restaurant would put up the $14.95 Sunday brunch deal; however, I didn't mind because I felt like I reserved the restaurant for just me and my family.

Ok, What About The Food And Service?
The main reason anyone goes to a restaurant is for the comfort. The service was alright at best. My family had a waitress that would service us drinks, she was friendly and not too ignoring or annoying. When it came to serving of food, that was another story. I would have my card flipped over on green, but it would take over 10 minutes for the meat server to come give us more food. I would be chewing my bones waiting for this all-important guy for too long to serve us food. Even though my family and I were the only people in the restaurant, the service tend to be shockingly slow. Fortunately, the wait was worth it because the food would finally come.
When I did receive food, everything was hot and fresh. My family and I were limited with the food since it was just the $14.95 brunch special.

Tip- If you are looking to come during the $14.95 Sunday brunch, you need to get there between 11am-3pm. Hey, I know that the times are short, but they don't want a huge crowd of people trying to eat for cheap and running them out of business.

I won't list all the kinds of delicious food because I don't want to spoil the surprise, so you will have to make a visit.

Thoughts/Feelings
I thought this restaurant was good, but not great. I have been to another similar one in Washington D.C. that I thought was 1,000 times better than this one. I think that this restaurant is worth a visit.

Picanha is a Brazilian churrascaria that serves some very good meat. Don't come if you don't want meat. It works on the basis of a red and green disk; they bring skewers of various meats until you turn over the disk to red. The salad bar was very good, and the desserts were also excellent. Service was a bit spotty (water glasses were difficult to get refilled), but we never lacked food.
