The Boat Basin

  • February 25, 2003

The Boat Basin overlooks a busy harbor and has beautiful views from its seaward windows. There is a nice wooden deck for outdoor dining and a Bodega-style lounge and huge fireplace inside. The ambience is formal but the staff are friendly and the diners include local fisherfolk and outdoorsmen, so portions are generous and there is no dress code. The cuisine is gourmet with an emphasis on local, organic produce, poultry, lamb, beef, and wonderful fish and seafood. There is an extensive wine and beer list and the bartenders are creative and happy to make anything that isn't on the menu. Richard Clark, the head chef, is personable and very talented. If you eat here once, you will want to eat here often!
