La Playita Azul

This restaurant was recommended to us when we checked in at the airport. When we first walked in, we thought that there must be some kind of a mistake. It was in the corner of a strip mall and it looked quite run down and shabby. We contemplated going to the Subway that was next door, but decided to give it a try, and we were so glad that we did! It is called a Mexican restaurant, but it is unlike any Mexican food that I have ever eaten.

They have three very unique sauces that are La Playita Azul originals. One is a guacamole, cream, parmesan cheese. The second is a sour cream and jalepeno creation. The third (and my favorite) is a creamy citrus, parmesan cheese, garlic combination that took the Mexican flavor right out of my seafood burrito. If you order the seafood burrito, order with a friend, because it is enormous! My husband and I couldn't finish it! And the seafood flautas are to die for! Not one bit fishy at all! The food was so good that we went back a second time and would have gone back again but we ran out of time!

The great thing about this restaurant is that you don't have to stick to the menu. If you want to change sauces or get steak or chicken instead of seafood, no problem! They will make your meal just how you want it! In fact, they were even willing to specially make a previous night's special, an avacado cut in half, grilled, and filled with steak, if we called ahead so that they could be sure that they had the avacado (they were out of avacado the night that we were there). To drink, they had freshly squeezed juice. The first night they had cantaloupe juice and the second night was lemon/lime. They told us that they also have watermelon or pineapple or other fruits. The juices vary from night to night. Both that we tried were very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is a dining experience that you will not find elsewhere!
