That's right, there is a little park, right next to the restaurant, which has dancing water fountains for the kids to play in, and a nice lawn for the adults to sit and sun on. So, don't forget to bring your swimsuits!!
But, of course, you'll be coming there for the food, and lots of it! Catch the early bird specials (all day until 6pm) for the best deal in town. For around $10 you get the whole shebang. First, they bring a basket of rolls and HUSH PUPPIES! Don't worry, if you eat them all, they bring more! Then comes your entree, with coleslaw and your choice of clam chowder or salad bar. Tea or coffee is also included! Then to top it off, you get dessert!! We were stuffed.
Oh yeah, we were sooo busy eating, I almost forgot to tell you about the GREAT VIEW of the Intercoastal Waterway. We went on Mother's Day around 3pm, it was crowded and we had a 10-minute wait, but it was worth it !
They even have some outside tables if you like that.

The Lobster Shanty has corn fritters that melt in your mouth, as does the powdered sugar on them. They keep them coming. There is a large salad bar and a diverse menu. You can order lobster, fish, crab, steak, or just plain hamburger. Seafood bisques are especially nice. And their rice pudding is wonderful as is the tapioca pudding. The grandchildren had their old standby - spaghetti with meat sauce. This is where the adults could try something different. The Mahi Mahi was delicious. No one limited themselves to the salad bar, even though there was an abundant selection of salads. My huband started with the Clam bisque, the white, not the red as that was his favorite. All the seafood is wonderful. You might want to go early for the early bird specials. The early bird specials include the salad, entree and the dessert all under $10. They even have a fritter mix you can purchase for home. They are heavenly.
Evenings are a bit dressier than the daytime when you might see people walk in from their boats in shorts or with a cover over a bathing suit. Shoes are always required. It is fun to watch the boats pass up and down the river as you dine, but the real fun comes when you catch a sight of dolphins jumping and playing in the water. When the kids leave, they can't resist going out the door to the dock to walk around the building to the parking lot.
This is definitely a place we visit every time we are near Vero Beach or the Ft. Pierce area of Florida. Tell them the Scotty's daughter recommended you!
