Description: After moving up from Ashland Oregon, my partner and I were looking for a watering-hole to call home. I'm a micro-drinker and she's a margarita lover so finding a happy compromise is often difficult. McMenamins North Bank is the definite solution!
The bar features fresh squeezed juices for all their mixed drinks and a selection of McMenamins own liquors. It's a nice touch and gives everything a wonderfully fresh and "old-time" feeling.
The staff is wonderfully casual and everyone was downright charming.
As for the beer, you can't go wrong. All the usual McMenamins selections and seasonal specials. The bartenders were a wealth of knowledge on great hangouts in southeast Eugene.
A brief side note, the food in the pub is pretty average and hearty, and includes a little more than just the regular run-of-the-mill pub standards. We haven't attempted the main restaurant yet but it looks wonderful. The tiered dining area overlooks the gorgeous Willamette river and outdoor summer seating is available. The prices in the restaurant will run you into the teens but if you are on a budget you might try the equally as comfortable lounge.
The restaurant is located less than a mile from the University of Oregon's Autzen stadium and if you pay The North Bank a visit during football season be prepared to spend some time with the cities most avid fans. Amazingly, even when the games are on things rarely seem too crowded.
This is, so far, my favorite place for a drink in the city of Eugene.
