Carla's Bakery Cafe

if you're visiting the Yorks on a Saturday morning, be sure to stop for breakfast at Carla's Bakery Cafe on York Street in York Village.

Carla's serves tasty sandwiches for lunch all week long, but breakfast is served on Satudays only.

There's a menu of yummy standard items, including a very good Eggs Benedict, but the action is on the specials board where new breakfast ideas appear every Saturday, including California Benedict (Eggs Benedict with tomatoes and avocado instead of Canadian Bacon) and Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes with real maple syrup. Entrees range between $5 and $7, and egg dishes include homefries and toast. Just decide what you want and give the cashier your order.

There are a small number of tables to sit at and you can usually grab one without much trouble. The restaurant and the tables are small, however, so it's probably not the best place to choose if you're with a large party or have kids.

Carla's is a fine bakery, as well as a resturant, so don't leave without trying her signature almond scones.

On second thought, don't--they're addictively good, and it's a sad thing if you aren't able to have them on demand.
