410 Bank Street Restaurant

On our second day, we enjoyed 5:30 reservations at 410 Bank Street. It is about ten blocks from the beach, and has wonderful french/creole cuisine and amazing service in a very laid-back beach atmosphere. We made early reservations so that our 18 month old would be able to join us, and not disrupt people hoping for a romantic evening dinner. When we called to make reservations, I asked whether the restaurant accomodated toddlers. The proprietor said that as long as we make an early reservation (before 6) they would be happy to accomodate. I made sure that they had high chairs, and we made the reservations. I was still somewhat wary, since I have been to restaurants where an accomodation quickly turns into a burden once the party arrives.

We were pleasantly surprised, however, that the staff, and our waiter in particular, were extremely welcoming of our dear boy. They even had crayons (which is relatively unheard of at a place that has entrees over $20.) The waiter was especially adept at listing the NUMEROUS specials all the while keeping J. entertained. We were also told that there is also an unexpected bonus by making reservations so early. Apparently the restaurant runs out of many of the "specials" by 7:30 or so, so if you want to get the "fresh catch" you should make early reservations. Also, we ate on a Saturday, so we were able to sample the dumplings, which they only make on Saturday (and which run out). The dumplings were light and flavorful--a perfect start to what became a wonderful meal.

My husband had foie gras, and I had a crab terrine. Both of which were expertly prepared and tasted wonderful. I had a special, the mahi mahi, with a sweet/peppery sauce that was delicious and light. My husband enjoyed his tuna, and the toddler enjoyed some julieneed vegetables that the waiter brought to us "on the house." We did not stay for dessert, as it was getting close to J.'s bedtime, but I have no doubt that the dessert would have been just as wonderful. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for fresh seafood and outstanding service.

How can you ever forget the address of this place? 410 Bank Street is definitely my all time Cape May favorite! It feels like you escaped to a tropical island. It's hidden behind lush foliage and is truly a gem! Why eat in the mall when you can come here? It's just a few blocks away. French -Caribbean cuisine will entice your taste buds. Large portions so you definitely will not leave hungry!
