Description: This is a great place to eat. You've got to work to get there--and once you're there, you've got to work to eat the good stuff--but it is well worth the work.
The Cantler family has been running this restaurant for over two decades and they do a pretty good job. The specialty is (what else) steamed blue crabs. They are excellent and worth all the work and picking. I also recommend the Petite French Loaf. We had a family member who needed to take medicine with bread so we ordered it and then ordered more because it was so good.
I went with a group of 5 adults. We got there early - around 5 pm on a Tuesday. The weather was beautiful and because we got there early, we were able to sit at a front row table on the porch that looked over the water. We got the requisite brown paper table cloth along with the necessary utensils. The service was good and the unsweet tea was even better. Our server was very attentive and my tea glass was never empty. The tables are a little crowded together, but that did not distract from the meal at all. I enjoyed the breeze and watching the sailboats go by. It was an enjoyable, relaxing meal. By the time we left at 6:30, the place was packed! I couldn't believe that there were that many people out on a Tuesday night.
After we ate, we went downstairs to the dock. Under the eating area/porch are tanks that hold the crabs. There are busters and peelers, etc. There is also an interesting collection of bottles and such that have come in with the crabs over the years.
You'll need a local or a map to get there. There are directions at the web site
www.cantlers.com/index.html.
I think you can dock your boat there for free too.
