Biltmore Estate Bistro

The Bistro at the Biltmore Estate is a wonderful dining experience with fresh ingredients grown on the estate. Located next to the famous Biltmore Winery, the Bistro offers continental cuisine that, along with the atmosphere, take you to a European world of fine linens, continental cuisine, and sweet wines with a dining area surrounding the open kitchen. We enjoyed a nice lunch after touring the winery and were greeted with wonderful service and a tasty meal. I ate the best French onion soup I've ever had, with a thick crouton topping and melted cheese over the clay pot. The wood-fired pizzas and homemade pastas are popular choices as well—and rightfully so! The bread and fresh olive oil with herbs that are served per table are melt-in-your-mouth good! If you have room for dessert, sit back and take in creme brule or chocolate torte and enjoy the sights and sounds of this rustic and bustling restaurant!

The Dining Room at the Inn at Biltmore

Our second dinner as part of the package we purchased was at the Dining Room at the Inn at Biltmore. Located at the bottom floor, you can either walk the stairs or take the elevator. We asked to have the bottle of wine my husband purchased at the beginning of our stay to be served to us and they were more than happy to accommodate. We were seated at the window, originally hoping for a sunset dinner, but the change in season fooled us, and we were off on our time schedule. The Dining Room is a lovely and large room with a fireplace. It is elegantly decorated, and the lighting is soft to give a relaxed appeal.

The service was beyond superb. We had waitstaff that had one purpose whether it was to make sure your water glass never hit empty or to fill the bread basket so you were never without food. The manager wished us a wonderful anniversary and made sure to stop by and ask how we were enjoying our dinner as well as our stay at Biltmore.

Our salad and appetizers were wonderful. We got a small tasting of a soup the chef was trying out that was wonderful as well. My husband ordered a filet and I ordered the surf and turf. I will say, sadly, that the surf was a bit tough, and I had to send my steak back to be cooked a bit further for my liking. We shared a dessert sampler of creme brulee and mousse that was quite good. All in all, it was a great experience with the service at its best. The smallest of things could not phase this staff who wanted to do nothing but make your dinner a wonderful event.

The Bistro at the Biltmore Estate Winery

The Bistro is attached to the Biltmore Estate Winery and situated in quite a pleasant, high-ceilinged building. I went for lunch, and the menu contained primarily salads and sandwiches with a selection of pizzas and some entrées. I opted for a bowl of the chipotle sweet potato soup of the day and the duck and chorizo pizza, both of which were very nice, although the pizza seemed to have a bit too much cheese and not as much meat as I would have liked.

Service was very efficient and the prices quite reasonable; however, you need also to factor in the substantial admission prices to the Estate, which I believe you would need to pay to gain access to the restaurant in the first place.

Overall, the settings were pleasant and the food quite edible, but it was nothing outstanding overall.
