Shhhh, it's a secret... at least, it used to be!
When asked where I would like to celebrate my 30th birthday, a milestone in the world of birthdays, Lily's Seafood Grill was the obvious answer.
Until recently, Lily's was unknown to many Royal Oak frequenters because of its location on Washington Ave., as opposed to the ever-popular Main Street. But the word is finally out--Lily's is THE place for an amazing meal.
To start the meal off right, the baked brie is to die for. A large round of brie, topped with orange and cranberry chutney and served with canteloupe, grapes, and pineapple, the brie literally melts in your mouth.
The main entrees range from perfectly prepared steaks to exquisite seafood. My choice? The coconut-encrusted tilapia, served with potatoes and vegetables.
The menu is extensive, and the entrees are chefs' masterpieces. It's hard to choose just one, so come back often and try them all.
As it tends to fill up in the evenings and you'll have to wait for a table on the weekends, head to the bar, where they whip up a mean dirty martini. The microbrews on tap are a tasty treat, and the wine list is extensive and impressive.
Make sure you've got time on your hands, as this is one place you don't want to be rushed!
