With my partner's parents and brother visiting, we decided to try a new restaurant (new for us, that is) in Old Nice (Vieux Nice). The menu is varied, with different pasta and other Provençal dishes. We each chose the set menu at 120FF, which includes choices for entrée, main dish and dessert (common in French restaurants). I had an assortment of "beignets", or deep-fried vegetables with (optional) mustard, as entrée, lasagna for the main dish, and mousse au chocolat as dessert. Entrées chosen by others were mixed salad and salad with cooked chicken livers. Their main dishes included calzone, gnocchi, chicken in lemon sauce, and filet of beef. We chose a bottle of red Côtes de Provence wine at 60F, which was good, but not excellent. Then again, none of us are great fans of Provençal wines, save a few rosés.

Service was excellent, the food was cooked wonderfully and in ample servings, and the warm, old French farmhouse décor added to the general sensation of having a home-cooked meal. We will definitely visit this restaurant again.

Reservations are recommended - we reserved ahead of time, and when we reached the restaurant at 7:30pm, every table but ours was full. (The French generally begin dinner between 7:30-8pm.)
