Juici Patties is the Jamaican version of McDonald’s. They are everywhere. These little stores are all over and easily recognizable with big bright-red letters spelling Juici Patties on an equally as bright yellow background. During lunchtime hours, there will be lines of people coming out the doors, but you won’t see many tourists there. This serves the local filling lunch for the working men and families. The patty resembles an English Cornish pasty, with a pastry shell stuffed full of meat, fish, and vegetables depending on which one you order.
I particularly liked the curry-vegetables one, but I also tried the chicken. The two I liked had hot curry sauce and a mix of the very hot Scotch bonnet peppers, but you can get milder varieties. For under $1, these things are so huge and so tasty. I guarantee you will be back for more.
