Oscar y Lalo's Is the Top Spot for My Dining

Torches glow as you enter and near the dining area, the kids enjoyed the frogs singing in the beutiful pond with Mayan fountains and Tropical garden throughout Restaurant. The combined food, service and atmosphere sets this apart from the other places we ate in Tulum. It was tranquil, with hammachs near the tables, nice lighting, and, overall, a quiet, peaceful setting with attentive service. The prices were reasonable in comparison with a lot of other places in Tulum. My husband and I are frequent travelers and love innovative dining experiences featuring quality food and service. Oscar y Lalo's did not disappoint and now holds one of the top spots for my dining experiences. The food is excellent, the staff is passionate about what happens at Oscar y Lalo's and ensures the whole dining experience meets the patrons' needs.

Heaven Is Oscar y Lalo's! Wow!

I was prompted to visit this restaurant by the Fodor's review and my group was absolutely delighted! We had a group of 15 people, all serious eaters, all world travelers, and we were all amazed at the service, the cleanliness and the great values that were served to us at Oscar y Lalo's!!

One of the owners, Jamie, stopped by our table and flashed a wonderful smile and visited with us for a while. Two of the seniors in the group gasped as this wonderful, beautiful and charming hostess was right at home! She was a beautiful Angel- with the bluest eyes you have ever seen.

So, if you get a chance to eat here. I'm telling you first hand, forget about the great and delicious food, forget about the incredible surroundings, or the great value- just go there by the chance you will get to smile and break bread with the beautiful owner, Jamie! Thank you Jamie for being so gracious. You belong in Hollywood, you beautiful lady, you!

Thanks again, John Michales, Developer

We Ordered the Lalo's Special It Is Definitely a Standout

We decided to visit Oscar y Lalos on our trip to Mexico this May because of the Fodor’s Review we read. It was for sure the best meal we had in Mexico. We ordered the Lalo's Special per Fodor’s review and it is definitely a standout as they stated. It was the most delicious Seafood I have ever tasted. The Lobster and shrimp were succulent the conch tasted like Abalone and the plate was very big, the Ceviche made of fresh Caracol was to die for. I will definitely return there. They also have Huge Fresh Fruit (Mango, Strawberry and Cha) Margaritas. All three are very good my husband and I had them all. I love the Cha it is exceptional. Apparently they are very healthy for you, all ingredients are fresh and natural the host told me. My mouth is watering as I type. I am dreaming of the Lalo Special. We had all of that for only $52 US two people and they took our credit card.

I then went with a tour guide from Oscar y Lalos diving at Dos Ojo’s, a White Powder Beach where the Turtles migrate, A beautiful Lagoon, It was the Best dive experience I have ever had. I saw Camel bones, human bones and ruins 180 feet below the ground in a Cenote. By the time I was done I was refreshed and distressed. I felt as if I had a cleansing. Mind Body and Soul. I highly recommend the Tour Guide from the Oscar y Lalos Restaurant apparently they have been in the area for 27 years and know all the best places. We went on an all day tour for only $75.00 per person. The other tour companies in Cancun and on the internet charge $180.00 plus per person for the same type of Tour. I can not wait to return until than I will only be dreaming of Paradise.

Oscar y Lalo's

Driving down Highway 307 south of Playa del Carmen toward Tulum is an area known as Punta Soliman.

You will see a sign on the left advertising Oscar y Lalo's Restaurant. Turn left at the sign onto an unpaved road. The road can be somewhat bumpy although we had no problems. You arrive at Oscar y Lalo's parking lot in about five minutes.

The restaurant is under an open air palapa. There are several tables outside under the palm trees. Hammocks are available right beside the tables!! This is a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.

The menu has several items, primarily seafood; however, there are some chicken and beef available as well. The prices at Oscar y Lalo's are more expensive than I would have imagined. The fish dishes and fajitas are "normal" prices, but other dishes are pricey. For example, the grilled shrimp was over $30. The serving sizes are acceptable, but I have certainly had more in other places. The quality of the food is good, but not spectacular.

Would I return? Absolutely. I highly recommend this place, but more for the atmosphere than the food.
