Great location by the slopes

My husband and I decided to stop here for happy hour after a day on the slopes. The restaurant is located literally yards away from where we came down the mountain. We enjoyed a pitcher of beer at a great price, while enjoying the scenery and speaking with other skiiers. We even returned here for lunch the next day. My husband and I got chips and salsa, and turkey burgers. While I personally wasn't a fan of the turkey burger, the chips and salsa were good and the service was outstanding. This place is usually very crowded so be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table. Outside we were able to find a few seats about a half hour before the lifts closed. It was always busy, regardless of what time we went there.

Slopeside’s slogan is, "Skiing is cold and expensive, lunch and dinner shouldn’t be." The most popular place on the mountain, Slopeside was constantly packed at all hours of the day. It was tough to get a table unless you were diligent. Because of the sunshine, the patio was open, which was great because dogs are allowed on the patio. They even had Purina on the menu. They also have racks next to the restaurant to hold your skis while you dine. We were waiting for a patio table when we noticed a table for four had only two people sitting at it. We asked if we could join them and it turned out to be a couple I met, ran into actually, out on the slopes. Now here they were, letting us share their table.

It was a beautiful day. My husband and I ordered beers and we all began sharing ski stories. We ordered hamburgers, which filled us up quickly after a morning of skiing. Our server was quick to keep my tea glass filled, even though she was the only server for all seven outdoor tables. We had also eaten dinner there the night before, enjoying one of their brick oven pizzas and fried ravioli (fantastic).

Slopeside’s location couldn’t have been better and both nights after the slope had closed down we would take our dog near the restaurant and throw her tennis ball while listening to the music coming from inside. Check out their website www.slopesidegrill.com. Apres ski anyone?

Spring skiing, hanging at the Slopeside Grill, and the living is easy. Good eats, great view and location. It's pricey for what you get, but who wants to leave the slopes, so either stop in early (before 11am) or late (after 2pm) to get better/faster service. If you want save money and time, walk across the road. The Slopeside is all about putting a few back and catching some rays.

If want to eat dinner at the Slopeside, you need to get there between the ski crowd and the dinner crowd. But then, it's that way everywhere you go in Steamboat during the season. If you're going to dinner, go early or late, but not too late; this is, after all, SkiTown.

Take a ski break and have a great lunch slopeside. Located near the base of the preview run. Excellent soups and white chicken chili. Full menu includes appetizers, sandwiches, pasta and pizza. They have heated outdoor area but go early or late to avoid waiting for an outside table.

A nice casual place for dinner also. They a nice bar and it is usually very lively. Great spot to go after tubing.
