Metropolitan Café

On the corner of 6th street, great ambience is achieved with full walls of windows. The square bar sits in the middle of the restaurant, so the street scene of the downtown intersection outside is visible from either the bar or a dining room table. And, while Cleveland, comparatively, isn’t that busy a place, where there is action, this restaurant is right in the heart of it. There are horse-drawn carriages that park themselves right out front and, after a game, from your table, you can see fireworks light up the night sky.

The clientele is well-dressed casual and I would say the restaurant is considered high-end. Yet, the prices were reasonable. Beers were under $5. The food was great. For example, I ordered a designer-type pizza ($10) as a table appetizer and I was floored by how fresh and tomatoey (and incredible) the pizza sauce was. The rest of the food reflected this attention to detail, including the bread. I couldn't stop eating it. There is a picture of it with all its herbs and such. Any restaurant that has good bread ...

Oh, and the beer! This place served my fave, which I can't get here in CA, Great Lakes Brewing Co. beer. The perfect brew.

See pics.
