It succeeds in atmosphere and cuisine. You could define it as being the chain restaurant Joe's Crab Shack but without the shoddy chain ideas, small portions, unenthused waitstaff, and tacky, overdone atmosphere. Mucky Duck succeeds in their cuisine, which is seafood, obviously. Right off of the beach, you enter the restaurant in your beach clothes and sit down to have beachfare, even with the sand sprinkled across the floor and between your toes.

This is an Americana seafood restaurant, so if someone in the family finds seafood inappropriate they can always order the classic "burger and fries" or whatever else is on the list. Including a childs menu, this a great family restaurant. The waitstaff knows what their doing, and are locals who know the area, so are happy to be there. And the atmosphere resembles a deck, with kitsch.
