Description: Aunt Catfish's is on the river in Daytona Beach. During high season, there is usually a long wait to get in for dinner. A nice waiting area is a rather long covered dock that is part of the restaurant complex. Many of the tables inside are along large windows overlooking the river. Nice ambience. The servers all seem to be cousins of Aunt Catfish. Service has always been good when I've been there. The menu contains a variety of fish dishes, mostly fried or broiled. There are a few other choices for those who do not care for seafood.
In the several times that I have been there, I have never had seafood that I would call outstanding. Passable comes to mind. The most noteworthy thing at Aunt Catfish's is the hot bar that accompanies the salad bar. I usually don't care much for baked beans, but Aunt Catfish's are - well, maybe not to die for, but really good. The grits and cornbread round out the other options. Aunt Catfish provides a nice finishing touch to meals by serving a cinnamon roll (very good) and a slice of watermelon (included with meal price). All in all, Aunt Catfish's is not high cuisine, but it is a nice place to go.
