The Best Irish Pub I've Been In

Being Irish, this was a must do for us. This is a great Irish Pub with extremely excellent, high quality food. Where do I start. A tradition started where a waitress pinned her first dollar tip to the ceiling after signing it, and now the ceiling, bar, walls, columns, everywhere there is a surface, is now covered with signed dollar bills. My husband, me and our 12 year old son all donated a dollar each. When you do you get a little card declaring you a true Irishman. There was live entertainment and he was really good. They have a huge moose head mounted on the wall and it is tradition that if it is your Birthday you must kiss the moose, while being seranaded with "Kiss the moose, Kiss the moose, Kiss the moose." So I was quite surprised when the singer called out my son and asked if he had ever been there before. He of course stated "no". So, the singer then stated that there was a tradition in this pub.........Yep, he had to kiss the moose. He was a great sport and it was so hilarious. This is definately not the place to go for a nice quiet dinner. It was great. The kitchen is open so you can see the chef's at work, which I love. They brew there own beer and have a variety of 6 that you can get as a little tasting menu type thing. The menu is highly entertaining and I suggest you keep it after ordering just to read through it. We got appetizers and had the seared ahi tuna, which was cooked perfectly and DELICIOUS!!!!!!! This was my son's first Irish pub experience and he absolutely had a blast. No worries about bringing your children to this pub. On our next trip to Destin we will be going here again for sure. Hope our dollars are still there when we go!!!!!! Next door to the pub is a large gift shop with authentic Irish souveniers and liquor. Wonderful unique items, could have spent a fortune in there. Go here really hungry and ready to have a great time.

McGuire's Irish Pub

McGuire's Irish Pub is a MUST do when in Destin. The food is absolutely delicious (try the shepherd's pie) and the decor is worth the trip alone! McGuire's is one of Florida's top restaurants. It has won Florida Trend Magazine's GOLDEN SPOON Award for the past eight years and is a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine Award of Excellence for the past five years. It is also home to some of the best live Irish entertainment around!

One of the most unique features of McGuire’s is the $300,000 + one-dollar bills hanging from the ceiling, walls, posts and pretty much everywhere else. These dollar bills have been signed from people all over the world since opening in 1977!! This place has such a great atmosphere and the steaks are, from what I have heard, OUT OF THIS WORLD! It can be a bit pricey, but I would budget it in to your trip cost and make a special night of it. They are open seven days a week at 11am! Mmm...mmm...goooood!
