The outdoor atmosphere was excellent. The wait was rather long, 45 minutes, but sitting outside under the palm trees and the live music made the wait a little more bearable. However, the food was not as good as the atmosphere, and it took forever to get to us. When it did finally get to the table, it was average at best. We ate at Barnacle Bill's a couple of days and were amazed at the difference. It was average at best all around.

Although this is a chain restaurant, being in Saint Augustine makes it a wonderful dining experience. The place is within walking distance from the historic district and right across the street from the inlet. The food is New Orleans-based type food and ambience. When the temperature is right, the outside brick courtyard is the place to be. There is often someone playing music, and everyone seems to be having a great time. The food is great as well. Any fish fixed the ROYALE way is awesome. Service is always very attentive. For the kids, being outside is always more relaxing than sitting up straight at the table. If you are just doing the couple thing, then you can walk or stumble (your preference) across the street for an evening carriage ride. You get beads without lifting up your shirt as well. BEWARE: Parking is always tricky in the historic area.

We are great lovers of spicy foods. I had the Jambalya and it is the best I have ever tasted. It is a spicy mix of sausage, chicken and pork served over penne pasta. The restaurant also serves a very good loaf of sourdough bread and a delicious salad with this. There are many other selections on the menu including local seafood, burgers, and they also serve mixed drinks or sodas.
