Casey's Caboose

We came here because of the free chicken wings during happy hour, and because we had heard about it from other people we met who had said they liked it. We didn't like it.

We went on a Monday at like 4:30pm. It was way, way crowded (I supposed because it was happy hour). They didn't have any drink specials (just the free wings), which you had to muscle your way through to the bar to get. The wings were good, nice and spicy. They didn't let you go anywhere but the bar with your free wings. Tables were for dining only, so it was standing elbow to elbow with your bowl of wings.

My husband wanted to sit down, so we sat in the "caboose" chairs, which was a novelty, and got nachos we didn't want for the pleasure of sitting there. Somebody had left the window open overnight, so it was freezing up there and there was snow on the window sill. The view was nice up there, but otherwise, it was small and cold.

Another novelty is the electric train that goes around the ceiling of the bar. This place is heavy on novelties and light on quality. There are much better places you can go for the money in Killington.

This was the best restaurant we dined at during our stay in Killington. This was surprising, because we thought it would only cater to families and serve traditional American food. The quality of each of our meals was exceptional... great bread and salads. Nice variety in menu, nothing standard. Fish, steak, pasta dishes, creatively prepared and nicely presented with fresh vegetables. Great desserts and very friendly service. Interesting atmosphere--there really is a caboose.

Always a great meal and friendly people. A local type hangout. It gets a little busy during ski season, but in the summer, you almost have the place to your own.

The dining motif is Railway oriented and a lot of fun to look at everything on display. There is no air conditioning but if you sit towards the screened patio, it's not a problem. The menu is extensive and nicely priced for family dining. The salad with their three house dressings is delicious. They bring a large bowl of salad and you can try all the dressings if you like. I recommend you do. We were seven people for dinner including three kids. We ordered everything from seafood to chicken, with all the entrees being excellent. We were all to full for dessert and, in fact, could not finish our meals. An excellent value and a lot of fun, especially for the kids.
