This restaurant is located on the top floor of the Othon Palace hotel and serves Swiss cuisine. They have gone to great lengths to make the place resemble an actual, traditional chalet as possible as much as possible, which provides for an interesting look. Flickering candles provide most of the light, and the soft piano music is just loud enough to drown out the noise from the streets far below. There is even a small dance floor, and we watched in amazement as an older couple, the only other customers in the place besides ourselves, took a few turns on it, drinks in hand.
The staff is friendly, but speaks little English. Luckily, the menu is written in English, so that’s not really a problem. Fondue is the specialty here, and it’s quite good. The restaurant has a full bar and fairly decent wine selection. We had the Crepes Suzette for dessert, it was sumptuous. We probably paid about $50 for the whole meal, including a bottle of wine. If you’re staying at the Othon Palace, it’s worth going to for convenience. However, I wouldn’t make a special trip for it, unless you happen to be overcome with an uncontrollable urge for fondue during your stay in Sao Paulo.
