O Platanos

On a Sunday afternoon, this restaurant was filled with Greek families dining after church. We managed to secure a table beneath their vine roof on the side of the restaurant. We gorged ourselves on the yummiest tomato salad, lamb chops, bread, and eggplant. We tried retsina, which we did not like, but that was not the fault of the restaurant. Then we laughed when the bill for all of that came to only a little over $20! Another American couple also chuckled over the low bill for the great food!

This little basement establishment is more than 100 years old and very proud to be there. They’re so proud that they will not pick you out in the street. They know that they are not for the average taste of a tourist.

You can eat fresh fish here, freshly fried potatoes, bean salad, fried cheese, olives, tomato salad, and many other dishes; last but not the least, you can also older retsina to wash them down. If you are vegetarian, you will find plenty to eat here.

There’s friendly service and interesting walls with a lots of historical evidence of quality through the decades. I could just taste that quality in the olive oil. They’re closed in July and August, but recommended in the winter. Don't go if you like fast food.
