Disgusted
Most horrific experience ever. My family and I went there on Thanksgiving as we were staying at a nearby resort. We had a party of 11 four of which were kids and made reservations. We ordered our food plus appetizers. Our appetizers started showing up one at a times about 45 mintues after we had been there. Then finally after waiting 1 hour 30 minutes our dinner finally showed up. My sons sauce on his pasta was ice cold. Half of my food and the others there were cold. I ordered surf and turf. When the receipt arrived they charged me for two dinners we asked to speak to the manager to explain why we were charged for two seperate meals. They said they dont have a surf and turf that they do seperate charges. Fine by me but I certainly didn't get two sides which if charging us for two meals they should have. We were absolutely disgusted. It was a $360 total we all ordered seafood and lobster. They had a oysters on the half shell special for 12.95 we ordered two and on the receipt it said there was a $60 charge. It was an appetizer and they charged us a 100% plate fee. Food and service sucked so we asked to speak to the manager. We asked her to explain the bill and she said why just pay it and leave. She wouldn't even hear us. She said she heard us complaining during dinner and that it was rude. Yeah well we were the customers and as the manager she should have come over to see if she could help. Furthermore we asked to speak to her boss and she said her boss was the owner and since she was engaged to her he would'nt do anything. She threatened to call the cops on us and said she would do nothing about the bill or to remedy the situation. She said that a party of 12 (which there were only 11 of us) shouldn't expect their food in 10 minutes we said that we didnt but it would have been nice if they at least had a little customer service after all it was thanksgiving. She said they were busy and it wasnt her problem pay the bill and leave is what we heard. Absolutely horrible. two thumbs downs. please save yourself from this disaster. There is another restaurant in town we tried the next day called the muddy moose. Same 11 people went and the service and food were AWESOME! Your business won't last long if keep treating good customers that way.

The Homestead had an early bird special from 4 - 6pm and it makes for an excellent dining experience at low cost. The service is relaxed, the portions sized right, and the salad bar that accompanies the special is well worth the walk up to it.

We dined here for lunch and also dinner, on a different night. The Homestead Inn was our very favorite place to eat because you could get a sandwich and soup for lunch for less than $10 per person. Our youngest son (who has Downs Syndrome and loves eating at fast food restaurants) only wanted to eat here because all the waitresses were so kind and he absolutely loved the New England Clam Chowder. The atmosphere was also extremely pleasant and, as I stated above, we tried it for lunch one day and then a couple of days later tried dinner and both experiences were rated four-star by us. Another interesting fact is the building was built in the 1700's and there are no nails in the building at all! It was an absolute fantastic place to dine.

It has a warm, friendly environment. The fireplaces
add a certain ambiance to your meal. After a
long day of snow sports, it is a welcome to sit
by the fire and casually eat your meal. The
Homestead staff is friendly and helpful. The
food is very appealing to the eye and delicious.
And as an added bonus to your
adventure: the back room of the restaurant is
said to be haunted by the former owner. This
restaurant is in an old home, restored to the
present day restaurant, and has a certain
"charm" about it.
