Casey's Seafood

Casey's Seafood is more than your average chicken of the sea...it is a taste experience! Situated next door to the more pretentious (and expensive) Gaido's Restaurant, Casey's fare comes from the same kitchen and cooks that supply Gaido's with their scrumptious dishes (at half the price). The waitstaff are very friendly and helpful...and fun! Not a restaurant for a stuffed shirt-type...Casey's is very relaxed. The perfect place to have the world's best shrimp cocktail while watching the Gulf outside your window. A very popular place to eat...you may find it quite crowded in the evening but the wait is short, not uncomfortable, sometimes quite interesting, and always worth the wait!

Casey's staff were friendly and prompt. We really enjoyed the food. Beginning with the salad, it was fresh and tasty and they had some really nice and unusal dressings. My wife had fish which she thought was great. I had shrimp and it was excellent--they used a really nice blend of seasonings. There was an abundance of food and we did not get dessert.

The food was excellent and the staff were extremely nice. The salad was really good and they had some unique dressings. I had a steak which was tender and cooked to perfection. My wife had fish which was great tasting and also cooked to perfection.

Casey's

Casey's is the more casual sister restaurant to Gaido's next door. The food is virtually the same, but the atmosphere is more relaxed, and the prices are much reduced. We ate our Thanksgiving dinner here, and we loved it.

Our waiter (Oleg) was very professional and helpful, and his Russian accent was charming. We began our dinner with a fresh green salad topped with a delicious honey pecan vinegrette, and accompanied by fresh bread. We shared a combo plate of fried shrimp and the daily catch, which served two generously. The shrimp was perfect, and the fish was outstanding and perfectly cooked.

We skipped dessert, but had a beer and a Mai Tai. The total bill, including a generous tip, was less than $30. Great service and food, very reasonable prices -- look for the giant shrimp on the roof.

Having tried Gaido’s, we decided it was only fair to try its sister restaurant, Casey’s. And I can tell you we are glad we did. While Gaido’s is upscale and formal, Casey’s is as informal and laid back as you can get.

But the same great food that is served at Gaido’s is also served at Casey’s with Casey’s and Casey's is a lot easier on the pocketbook. But don’t expect white linen table cloths and linen napkins at Casey’s.

After a short wait, since we did arrive right at the height of the lunch crowd, we were seated at what resembled a picnic table. It didn’t take me long to peruse the menu and make my selection of fried bay scallops. My wife also opted for the scallops. They were absolutely delicious and were fried to perfection. Just like at Gaido’s, I had so many scallops that I did not have room left over for dessert. But when I have a choice of scallops or dessert, I am going to opt for the scallops every time.

Be sure and make Casey’s a lunch or dinner time stop on your trip to Galveston. I think you will be glad you did.
