You won't see much advertising for this local favorite, but the food is very good and worth the money. I had eaten there a few years ago, and it did not let me down when we went there for my husband's birthday. Roomy and relaxed, it's good food without the need to move along. They have a bar area as well. My husband also loved the local brews.

The barbeque sauce used is excellent. The salads are filling, steak comes out the way you order it, side dishes are tasty. The burgers are made just right. The service is good, it's easy to park, and there aren't long waits on getting a table. It a place for locals as well as travelers.

Calhoun's is a chain in Tennessee and we have eaten at the one in Nashville. The one in Gatlinburg had excellent ambience with lots of lodge-style wood and a huge fireplace. A huge waterwheel adorns the main entrance in reference to the original Calhoun’s, which is on the Tennessee River in Knoxville (?).

The food was tasty and there is an appetizer that was yummy with cheese and bread for dipping -- nothing fancy here. Barbeque favorites abound, so relax and enjoy. Also they have their own microbrew beer, which was very tasty. Kids meals were typical, but served in a cardboard "convertible," which the kids liked.
