Alamo Steakhouse is a must every time we visit Gatlinburg. The food and the service are superb, with a great atmosphere. The prices aren't too bad for the amount of food that you get. It is definitely a place to stop for lunch or dinner.

The steak was fantastic and monstrous! This is a favorite with all the locals, worth the price, and a must if you visit Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.

On a previous trip to Gatlinburg, my son and I had eaten at the Alamo Steakhouse in Gatlinburg. We had a nice, quiet meal.

After a busy, wet day at Dollywood, we were looking for someplace to eat. Promoted on a large sign was that the Pigeon Forge Alamo was voted the locals’ favorite steak house. Why, I do not know.

Where the Gatlinburg version was quiet and friendly, the Pigeon Forge Alamo was loud and too bright. The food didn't compare well either. If this is the locals’ favorite place, it must be because they all have family that work there.

My husband ordered an Angus burger, medium rare. It came out resembling a charcoal briquette. It was clear that they really did not like to remake the burger. Portions were small and the service was so-so. I don't blame the young waitress for the kitchen's problems, but there was little to recommend it. Our waitress would come with a meal item and then disappear from view. Our drinks were never refilled. The check was brought without asking if we wanted dessert.

If you are in Pigeon Forge, skip this place.

This restaurant was a bit pricey, but the quality of the steaks and the service made it well worth the cost. The waiter had no problems posing for a picture for my 9-year old, and was very friendly--as was the rest of the staff.

On a busy Saturday night, we only had to wait five minutes (or less) for a table. For two adults and one child to eat (before tip) very well, including appetiser and a desert (big enough for three to share), expect to spend between $50 and $65--but you will have leftovers.

The smallest steak they have (including the chopped steak) is 12 ounces and it's worth it. Just beware of the travel/tour agents outside the restaurants.
