This was the worst experience I´ve ever had in a restaurant or B&B! The owner of Verdi B&B and Tearoom is so VERY rude. We could not believe it. We ordered hot waffles in his tearoom and they were cold, the butter did not melt on them. So we asked very politely to warm them up in the kitchen. The owner YELLED on us that this was not true. His waffles were always hot (as though he could clearly see that the butter did not melt) and he pushed away my poor mother from her plate, took all our plates, threw them on his tray and went away. He then sent a waiter who had to bring us the check and tell us to leave the tearoom. We could not believe what was happening to us. Sure we did not pay anything and left. We even thought of calling the police for pushing my mother. Some people in front of the house noticed that we were very upset and spoke to us. They told us they had a very similar experience with this man at his B&B which is above the tearoom. They regretted it immensely to have booked a room at the Verdi B&B and were trying to find another room. Absolutely stay away from this tearoom and B&B on Vlamingstraat 5 (at the corner of the Market Place)!!!

I stumbled upon this restaurant during a walk and can't remember the address other than it was down a side street and only a few blocks from the Markt. It is a large restaurant that serves light meals at lunch and is frequented by lots of locals. The food is well prepared and attractively presented. They had lots of asparagus dishes since it was asparagus season. My mushroom omelette came with a green salad and made a filling lunch. A number of customers came in to enjoy tea and dessert and there was a good selection of cakes to choose from.
