Zen Tea House

I am a bubble tea (or Pearl Milk Tea) addict, and everywhere I travel, I try to get one. So on a rainy and cold Friday afternoon, after a feast of Philly cheesesteak subs, we found ourselves driving in Chinatown Philadephia looking for a place get my fix of bubble tea. We had some difficulty in finding one, and just before we abandoned the search, we were lucky enough to stop right in front of the newly opened Zen Tea House.

This tea house is nicely decorated, with exposed brick walls, plants, lots of seating, and even wireless internet access. I tried a delicious Taro bubble tea there, which was every bit as good as in New York or Taiwan. The bubbles had a very nice texture and were not clumpy. The friendly manager, Victor, offered Ally a new featured flavor: pear-flavored green tea with jack fruit. That is a flavor that I haven''t been able to find in San Francisco or New York. Sweet and slightly sour with slices of jack fruit, this was really a hit with me. I hope these guys stay in business, because it is the only bubble tea place in town, and every respectable Chinatown has to have a great bubble tea house.
