This was the best-tasting Morrocan food I had ever eaten - and I received a three course meal including a bottle of eau gazeuse (I don't drink alcohol) for under $11! Some vegetable appetizer, French bread with hummus (yes, no pita!), couscous, and a baklava-like dessert in a dough-like shredded wheat but phyllo-like, too. It was not very busy, unfortunately not like Chez Bebert not too far up the street (more in a separate review), and the owner / waiter conversed with me about several subjects, including his daughter going to university in London. I do not know if he spoke English because I only spoke French to him.
This was the prix fixe menu:
Appetizer (entree): chlada, zaalouk, palm hearts, artichoke hearts
Main Dish (plat): couscous merguez (a type of sausage), couscous boulettes, seffa, chakchouka
Dessert: fruit salad, Morrocan pastry, ice cream, 2 dates with almond paste
Wine: a carafe of red or white included (I got a bottle of sparkling water)
I didn't check to see if this restaurant was still there when I went back in 2002; it may be gone. I cry just to think of that.
Other dishes served were pastilla, a poultry in a phyllo dough, and harira and tagine, stews.
