Bistros are the way to go . . .

Armand & Ko is a bistro off the main square in Brussels. The owner was friendly and helpful and seemed laid back. The waiter approached us and asked in which language we would like to be helped--he claimed to speak several! We decided on Spanish, and later he switched to English--I think he was showing off. First, the waiter brought homemade crunchy mature cheddar breadsticks. After that, I had an appetizer which was okay, but overpriced. For my main course, I had the sea bass, which was a special that evening. It was cooked perfectly, but the sauce was more of a meat sauce than a fish sauce. We shared dessert, which was wonderful. The atmosphere was great--old-time French café posters covered the wall, and it was a fairly intimate place. Service was excellent, and they really made us feel at home.
