It's funny to admit that the highlight of our trip with this FANTASTIC restaurant. Villa de la Selva is situated on a cliff overlooking a spectacular ocean view. We arrived just before sunset on a breezy evening and were floored by the view, architecture, and decor. My husband said that he would have been happy if they had just served peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But no such luck!
The menu was traditional Mexican with a twist. The crab taco appetizer was served with a light and flaky crust and served with a flavorful french-style sauce. The pasta with shrimp was served with the most delicious cilantro dressing. The menu ranged from standard fare (salmon, pasta) to complex contemporary cuisine. Try the bananas flambe. They cook them right in front of you! They also mix a great Cosmopolitan.
I highly recommend this restaurant. It is pricey, but well worth the trip! We were there during low season, so a reservation was not required, but I hear that this is a "hot spot" during the busy season. So call ahead.
