Croaker Spot

I heard about the Croaker Spot from FoodTV's Bobby Flay on his TV show...Food Nation. I could not wait to try the food. My husband and I took my mom and aunt to thank them for helping w/ our wedding.

The plates of food were massive and around the same prices as Red Lobster, but with bigger portions and much better food. The iced tea, lemonade, and limeade were the best I've ever tasted outside of my own house.

They have this platter w/ crabcake, fish, scallops, shrimp, cheddar ranch grits, cabbage, rice, and cornbread. There is so much food you actually have to take some home w/ you. It will last for 2 or 3 days. The four of us, including drinks, came to around $100. Reasonably priced escpecially compared to the amount of food that you get. And we got the highest priced things on the menu.

No question about it this place is a MUST DO or a Do or Die...you must Do it, try it before you Die. You are missing out on the treat of your life if you don't go here to try the food. Kudos to the Croaker Spot.

2 Thumbs & 2 Toes Up.
You are truly toe twitaling good.
Enjoy your blessings to come.

My daughter and I visited the Croaker Spot in the Jackson Ward part of Richmond. A friend of mine told to visit there if I was ever in Richmond. It wasn't hard to find. I called the restaurant from the hotel and a friendly waitress gave me great directions. The service and food was wonderful. Gigantic Portions!!! A gorgeous waitresses (Teresa), and Fantastic Service!

Croaker's Spot

Located in historic Jackson Ward, Croaker's Spot is Richmond's soul-food, seafood institution. As a friend's friend put it, "It's the best food I've ever had." Their signature dish is the fried catfish platter, with a hunk of homemade cornbread and fantastic collards. Though the meals are pretty standardly priced, the portions are gargantuan--hopefully, you'll enjoy fried fish leftovers for the next meal (or three).

It's a tight little joint--with few booths and a long wait to get in. If you're just there for the food, they do a brisk take-out business (but call ahead with your order). Though the rest of the neighborhoood may seem sketchy, it's a safe spot to be. Hopefully, Croaker's will be one of the cornerstones in the revitalization of Jackson Ward (long talked about but finally coming to fruition).
