Description: In 1982 we first found Bogart's accidently. After spending way too long walking the beach - and still dressed in our beach clothing - we realized we were famished. In '82 there weren't so many choices of eatery places in Ixtapa so we simply left the beach, walked down the boulevard and stopped at the first place we noticed was open. The simple, plain white exterior of Bogart's didn't prepare us for the fairytale inside. EVERYTHING was done in white - the walls, the tables, the waiters jackets and even their gloves. Soft, green indirect lighting gave the interior of the restraurant a eerie but magical atmosphere. We were greeted by the most beautiful Mexican women wearing a vibrant red cocktail and she graciously lead us to our table. We, fumbling tourists that we were, stumbled along in our flip-flops feeling more than a little under-dressed. We were served something exquisite - seafood as I recall but I couldn't name the dish. Our handsome waiter was charming and attentive and we eat this perfect meal to the background of hauntingly beautiful music being played by yet another completely white clothed man playing on a white baby grand piano. The entire evening was surreal. We haven't returned to Bogart's in recent years but I can only imagine the magic hasn't changed. Perhaps this year when we go back once again to Zihua/Ixtapa. Only this time I'll wear a dress.
