Passed by Shish a couple of days ago, and last night decided to drop in for the first time. Initially thought the restaurant would be very 'Shish Kebab' type, but a brief glance at the menu proved otherwise. Shish has a variety of meals ranging from Indonesian Satay Chicken, Chinese Chicken, Salmon Teriyaki to the Mediterranean dishes of Koftas, Falafel wrap and at least a dozen different mezzes to try from. Mezzes (snacks) on the menu all sound mouthwatering which also reminds me of Spanish tapas style of dining. For first timers like my friend and I, mezzes are great introduction to what Shish has to offer. The waiter we had was friendly, altho the waiting can be a mite slow, but the excellent food and the absolutely glorious dessert more than made up for the slight disappointment in the service. The prices are very reasonable.
I would thoroughly recommend trying out any of the mezzes, we had a '4 Hot Mezze Selection' consisting 2 Falafel, 2 Duck & Spring Onion Rolls, 1 Spinach Borek, 2 Chicken in Pandana Leaves, all served with dips', and one of its Shish Classics - Indonesian Chicken Satay with couscous. 2 beers. For desserts we shared an Amaretti Crush (cocktail) and a scoop of Shish's homemade ice-cream with a baklava stick. The ice-cream with baklava stick was to die for!!!! and just enough for 2 people to share without being greedy ... One small taste of the ice-cream (dusted with crushed baklava) is like a little taste of heaven. A bite of the baklava melts slowly in our mouths, just perfect. And the cocktail - amazingly refreshing, it is said on the menu "Amaretto & Cointreau shaken with lemon grape and peach juice with crush ice". The damage was merely £35 for 2 people. And if it is too expensive for some, I would say, it is definitely well worth it to have a fully satisfying meal experience!
