We stopped by this restaurant because we love Mexican food and we had read some reviews that the place had really good food. We came to find out this really wasn't the case. I ordered a cosmopolitan that tasted like gasoline and I ordered a burrito for my meal. The burrito could have been good, but they put peas and carrots in their rice. I don't mind that in my fried rice, but I wasn't expecting a Chinese dinner, I wanted a burrito with Spanish rice. The other two people that were dining with me had the same disgust and our waiter was less than sympathetic, actually we felt a little ignored and had to wait quite awhile to try and get our check so we could leave. If you like peas and carrots in your burrito, then go ahead and make a visit, otherwise, I'd steer clear.

Great Mexican food with fair prices. The drinks are good, and you have a view of the streets of New York - New York complete with steaming sewers... (right next to the no smoking sign!) It's an interesting way to people-watch.

Gonzalez y Gonzalez was not a very impressive experience. The menu consists of typical Mexican fare, nothing exceptional, and it was delivered very quickly. That's about all that impressed me. The food wasn't good at all. It was about one small step up from Taco Bell, and all tasted like it had been prepared earlier in the day and then just heated up.

Our waiter was competant, but unimpressive. He took our order quickly and without any personality, and then didn't come back. All the food was brought out separately by different people, none of whom asked if we wanted anything else. The next time we saw our waiter he was bringing the check, which we hadn't asked for becuase we wanted another round of drinks.

This is a complaint I'd never thought I'd ever make, but our table was way too small. They sat 3 people at one of those tiny cafe tables. We ordered a appetizer, plus there were the free chips, and each of our drinks and entrees, and there was no room for it all. None of the tables were a decent size.

Basically, the whole experience was sub-par and not worth the money we paid for it. Given the level of service everywhere else in Vegas or at just New York/New York, this seemed even worse. If I had this kind of dining experience at home it would irritate me, but when I'm in a city with so much good food and I have a lousy dining experience, it's ten times worse.

Gonzalez y Gonzalez is a Mexican restaurant that offers a wide variety of dishes in a cafe adorned with pinatas and lanterns.

Upon entering this restaurant, first thing I've noticed was the darkness. It had lighted candles on each tables, but this didn't help "lighten" things up. I felt it could have been lit up a bit more.

I ordered the tacos dish and my husband ordered the gorditas dish. To be quite frank, I did NOT like my menu choice. I chosen the "beef" option for my choice of meat. The meat tasted funny. After eating only one taco, I've decided I had enough. I could not stomach anymore of their food. My husband's menu choice was much better than mine. He didn't really comment on his gorditas. So, I'm assuming his was served fine.

Another negative was our server. We had a mumbling server who you could barely hear. If you are going to be in this type of profession, you should at least make yourself presentable and be heard.

We were not happy with Gonzalez y Gonzalez. Perhaps it was a bad day for them? I really don't know and I really don't want to find out. We would not be visiting this restaurant again.

If you like Mexican food and is on a tight budget, Gonzalez y Gonzalez inside New York-New York offers great Mexican dishes for a low price. My wife and I had full entrees and a drink each for less than $40. The atmosphere is cool with patio dining and the Manhattan Express flying overhead. You can also feel the casino inside the restaurant with the noise, the people and, oh, of course, the smoking.
