Los Milagros

Los Milagros is a wonderful little family run restaurant about one block up from the main downtown area. There is table seating as you first enter, but opt instead for the back patio dining area, which is secluded and romantic. Back here there are only few tables open to the night sky, and it feels more like a small personal hidden patio than a restaurant. The night we were there a musical trio performed a wide variety of songs, with one gentleman performing some excellent slide guitar solos.

The food was an innovative Mexican/Continental mix. An absolute must is the Mexican coffee for dessert. Our waiter was an artist and put on a great display with the blue flame from the tequila. When we return to PV, this will be on the top of our 'to do' again list.

Our taxi pulled up on a narrow street in front of Los Milagros and we were met immediately by the waiters who poured out of the doorway to open our doors and help us out of the car and inside. What a greeting. Without reservations they asked how we heard about them and cued by our driver we said the taxi. He was rewarded by one of the waiters and drove off. They had been on the recommended list from the hotel, but what the heck, he was a nice guy.

Once inside, an indoor/outdoor courtyard with a warm and colourful ambiance met us, along with the voices of two very talented young men singing traditional Mexican and South American tunes.

The menu was very unique and varied and the food was served hot and delicious. I had calf's tongue in a stew like medley of peppers and onions with mashed potatoes. Delicious and considered a local delicacy. My husband was less adventuresome but he said it too was wonderful. Coffee and chocolate cake for dessert finished of a fabulously fun and memorable evening.
