We had an 8:30 reservation but we decided to head over early to try and get in earlier than our reservation time. I called and the hostess said to come right over, that the wait was only around 30 minutes for walk-ins. We arrived at 7:00 and Gabriella informed us that the wait was now 45 minutes to an hour. We said fine and that we would wait. One hour and 45 minutes later we were escorted to our four-top table that they expected five of us to sit at. At this point we were even late for the original 8:30 reservation we had. We were not the only ones, many there that night were sat 30-45 minutes later than their reservation. I called the manager over to complain and he brushed us off and said that people were just not getting up from their tables when they were supposed to and that it was backing up all the tables. He at least did offer us free desserts to make up for it.

World famous salad bar? They had 7 items to choose from, no cheese for the salads, and the plates were warm to put your salad on.

The main course was acceptable but surely not worth the prices. We frequent Jake's on the Beach in San Diego, which is the sister restaurant for Duke's, and they would be ashamed to know that customers are treated this way.

Go to Duke's for a drink, listen to the music and take in the scenery. But if you have to wait for a table, it's certainly not worth it.

This was a great place to grab something to eat and have a drink right off the beach. We had to wait a while for an outside table, but nothing too bad. We had chicken caesar salads that were wonderful!

Centered in the middle of Waikiki, Duke's is a must see if you are in town. The restaurant is a local landmark named after Duke Kahanamoku, a Hawaiian surfing legend. Evenings are very crowded but worth the wait. If you step off the back deck, you are on Waikiki Beach. The food is excellent, especially the Hula Pie, made for you, macadamia nut lovers. On Sunday afternoon's (the best day to go in my opinion) live entertainment makes for a perfect day.

This restaurant is located at the Outrigger Hotel on Waikiki. We have eaten there for both lunch and dinner; I recommend that if you have kids to go there for lunch. The food is great and the views are incredible. It overlooks Waikiki and has an incredible sunset view at dinner. It is not really that expensive at lunch ($60 for 2 adults and a 2-year-old) but can be at dinner, especially if you add that all important Mai Tai or bottle of wine (around $100). I recommend making reservations as it is a very very popular restaurant.

The breakfast buffet is well worth the cost. You have a choice of so many items, including a full fruit bar and an omelet bar. The food is delicious and the price is great. Service is A+ and well worth the wait, which can sometimes be up to an hour. This is located inside the Outrigger Hotel and is open to anyone. You can even get a patio seat when available. Very friendly and very good! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the food! When you're done, roll down to the beach and make a day of it!
