Exceptionally Overworked Wait Staff

We have only visited Thai Cuisine once, and our experience was quite negative. We had to wait, wait, wait for everything: ten minutes before our waitress took our order, ten minutes before she brought us our drinks, ten minutes before we received our appetizers (by someone from the kitchen who seemed uncertain if she were bringing us the correct order), and ten more minutes before we finally received our entree. And then we had to wait some more before our waitress finally brought us the bill. I had my credit card ready to go so that we didn't have to wait for her to come back to pick it up! It was a long evening of waiting, waiting, waiting. Luckily we had plenty to talk about.

The food was all right--we ordered curry puffs and soup (tom kha gal?), which we liked better than our entree, which was pad thai. The pad thai seemed to be missing any hint of peanut until I finally took a bite and ended up with a huge wad of peanut mixture in my mouth...apparently it wasn't stirred in too well.

The wait staff seemed flustered and overworked, and we felt sorry for them; however, it was remarkably poor service overall as a result, so we cannot give a very good recommendation for the service here.

Thai Cuisine

This restaurant is on the edge of Mallory Square, so in the evenings, it can get quite busy. The food is nice, clean, and tasty. There’s outdoor seating with really great opportunities for people watching (like the guy who walks by with a sign that says, "Why lie? Give me a dollar for beer."). Be light on using the hot Thai sauce, no matter how tasty you think it is.

Thai Cuisine

Having our fill of seafood led us to try the Thai Cuisine on our last night in Key West.

Located just around the corner from our bed and breakfast, we were walking back from a business meeting that had run later than we had expected and we didn't want to eat a big meal. Just about that time we came up on the Thai Cuisine. As we walked on to the outdoor dining area, we could tell the help was making preparations to close but Jessica, our waitress, told us to have a seat and she would bring us a menu.

The menu has a red star by all the dishes that are spicy and I noticed that the majority of the dishes prepared here are spicy.

Not wanting to eat anything that would keep us up all night, since it was a long drive back up the Keys the next day, my wife decided on Pad Thai, a combination of shrimp and chicken with noodles. I decided on the combination fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp.

Both dishes were absolutely delicious and had us wanting to try our local Thai restaurant when we returned home.
