Schooner Wharf

All of the locals will encourage you to go to this location, but save your time and money for places that are much better. (See my travel journal for Monty's.)

The bar/restaurant is probably for parrot-heads and I guess I'm just not one. The music was depressing, the food was lack lustre and half-hearted, and the service was almost nonexistent.

Once in a while, the locals will steer you right, but don't believe them about this one.

Looking for some local Key West charm? Try Schooner Wharf - this is an open seating bar and I mean an "in the open" dining area with live entertainment and good casual food. Very rustic and very "Carribean like". Happy hours are generally packed and tough to find a seat. Great fish sandwiches, drunken shrimp, great drinks, and plenty of colorful characters, many of them local Key West folks. Don't be surprised to see dogs, cats, scuba spears - just about anything you can imagine. This is part of the old Key West - the way it used to be along the waterfront!!! Setting is right in the harbor with boats and activity right in front of Schooner Wharf. Meals are generally $10 or less - This is a "must" if you are looking for some local charm. Live music and a guy rolling cigars right in the dining area! Try it - you'll like it!
