I go to Farmers markets all the time here in Canada, but the freshness of the fruits at the market near Hanalei was outstanding!'
I bought fresh roma tomatoes, a huge sweet pineapple and fresh garlic and herb goat cheese. The produce was the best I saw on the island and the view around the market was amazing also. The prices were about average but what you get for the price is the difference. I loved the pineapple especially!

Wherever you're staying on the island, make a point to find out the days and time of the local sunshine market. There is no better way to meet the locals, sample exotic fruits and veggies, and soak up some of the unique atmosphere of Kauai. You can sample goat cheese, purple sweet potatoes, apple bananas, sugar loaf pineapples, soursops--and buy large bouquets oflovely exotic blossoms at very reasonable prices.
