Great Sushi Restaurant

Kenichi Pacific is a great sushi restaurant located at the Keauhou Shopping Center. They have wonderful appetizers such as shrimp tempura, raw vegetables with miso sauce, and black cod with miso sauce. Their entrees are delicious especially their grilled ono (wahoo) which is served with yams, green beans, oyster mushrooms and ponzu. They also have beef, lamb, chicken, and other seafood entrees included on their dinner menu. As for sushi, they offer a variety of sushi rolls such as the Kenichi Special Roll (snow crab, cucumber, avocado, tuna, and fish roe), the Hawaiian Roll (blackened yellowtail, serrano chilis, pinapple, and avocado), and The Aspen Roll (smoked ahi, cream cheese, scallion, sprouts, cucumber, and sesame seeds). For dessert they have Molten Cake and Tempura Ice Cream which is delicious. They are open for dinner from 5pm - 9:30pm. On Fridays they have "half off sushi rolls" and daily drink specials. They also have wonderful sake drinks like their Sake Mojito (mint, lime and sugar blended with sake and soda) and their Passiontini (Wokka saki mixed with lilikoi passion fruit juice). I would recommend eating here if you are staying at one of the hotels nearby and you want to eat at a nice sushi restaurant in Keauhou. Note that this restaurant is a bit pricey but worth it.

While most of your tourist spots are found on the north end of Ali'i Drive, head south to the end, to the Keauhou Shopping Center for first class Asian fussion cuisine. In this not so extraordinary shopping plaza, near the Wendy's, is the home of Kenichi Pacific, one Chef Kenichi Kanada restaurants (also found in Aspen) which offers tranquil surroundings and incredible food. The restaurant also features a great sushi bar. Everything we had was outrageously delicious. We started with very fresh sashimi (sushi minus the rice), and each had a seafood dish.

Make sure you have reservations! I had the lemongrass mahimahi, a pan-seared rare, with black "forbidden rice" and mushrooms. Oh my god--it was heaven.

Kenichi is a new fusion/Japanese restaurant with a sushi bar. The menu has various Asian inspired dishes. In the two weeks we were there we went three times. Twice we had the roast duck with light hoisin sauce served in a mooshi pancake. Tempura asparagus spears were covered in a very light batter and were superb. We had the sushi special of the night each time and all were excellent. The molten chocolate dessert, a sort of flourless cake served with coffee, chocolate chips, and fresh fruit, was exquisite. Twice we shared it, the last night there we each had one!
