The Best on Kona

I live in the Los Angeles area and Roy has at least three restaurants in the area that I visit frequently. You can never have a bad meal nor service at his places. They are extremely outstanding. I visit the Islands about once or twice a year and his restaurant on Kihei and Kona are, without a doubt, my most favorite places to eat. The drinks are great too. The service is impeccable and the food....nothing but excellent can be said of their food. I always recommend his establishments to all of my friends that visit the Islands. I would give Roy Y. at least 6+ stars for his restaurants. Thanks Roy.

Once again this Roy's proved why it is the best in the chain. The Macadamia Nut crusted fish was superb. This time I tried the cobbler for desert. It was a fresh berry cobbler made with strawberrys and blueberries. Wow, was it good. The atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable. The service is always great at this Roy's as well. NBA superstar David Robinson was eating with his family two tables over from me. The place is a bit pricey, $45 for entree and desert, but it is worth it. Save money somewhere else and eat at Roy's.

Roy''s is a great place to go and unwind after a hard day of sightseeing on the Big Island. Specializing in flavors that represent the islands, my recommendation would be their delicious butterfish. They offer a great atmosphere and serve large portions. So, if you find yourself in the King''s Shops in Waikoloa, drop into Roy''s with a large appetite.

Awesome! We went to Roy's twice during our stay. The first time we tried two seafood meals. I had the macadamia nut encrusted white fish, and my wife had the asain broiled white fish. While her meal was excellent, mine was melt in your mouth perfection. We followed it with the chocolate souffle a la mode; once again it was melt in your mouth perfection.

A couple of nights later, we were in a beef mood and attempted to go to the steak house in the King's Shops, they had a 20 minute wait just to get a pager and then the real wait began. So we decided to go see how long the wait at Roy's would be; they could seat us immediately, so we stayed.

That night we had one of the best servers I have ever had. He was very excited about the menu. He fully explained everything on the menu, and with their menu, the explaination with local flavor was much appreciated. My wife ordered the ribs, an excellent choice. This time I told the waiter to let the chef choose my meal, whatever they thought they were doing the best that night. The brought me a filet. The beef was grown on local Parker Ranch and aged at Roy's. Once again, I was the big winner, my meal was perfect. Because we were heading up to Mauna Kea that night we decided against dessert.

You have to try the Soufflé - it was the best in the world. The food was excellent and the view was great. It's right on the golf course.
