Yummy seafood. We waited for a table out on the deck and timed it for the sunset. As the tide came in we felt like we were dining on the ocean. Our waiter was really helpful and they have a sign system for attracting your servers attention. The portions are large. A good selection of tropical drinks.

Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company

Having never dined at any Bubba Gump's, we really wanted to give them a try. We arrived early at the restaurant's suggestion. You can call in for reservations, but they aren't really necessary if you're early enough. We were seated on the patio facing the waterfront and had the opportunity to see a simply fabulous sunset!! The food was very good and the adult beverages were exceptional. If you like mai tais, you must try their frozen version, which is like a slurpee, mmmmmm good. I had "just" fried shrimp, but I've got to say, it was far from "just" shrimp. The flavor was wonderful, with just a light bread coating. You could taste the shrimp and not the breading. My husband had a mahimahi dish prepared Cajun-style that also had shrimp in the sauce. Served over rice, he was in heaven. To end our dining experience, we split a strawberry shortcake-type dessert that was enough for three! There is also a gift shop if you're interested in buying Bubba Gump logo items (T-shirts, hats, etc.).

If you have never eaten at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Company you have to put this on your list of must do’s while in Hawaii! That is assuming you like shrimp. If not they have other dishes to choose from. I have visited a few Bubba Gump’s around the country and this one is #1 all the way! We were warmly greeted walking up to the doors and then shown to our table, which happened to be RIGHT ON THE WATER. I could have put my arm out and dropped something and it would have landed in the ocean. As far as the service, they have a great system worked out. They have license plates, yes license plates on the tables. One says "Run Forrest Run" the other "Stop Forrest Stop." If you have ever seen the movie you will know what I’m talking about. When everything is fine you leave the "Run Forrest Run" sign up and when you need a drink, have a question, want to order, have a problem, you flit it over to "Stop Forrest Stop" and who ever, even if it is not your waitress/waiter will stop and take care of ANYTHING you need. It’s VERY impressive to see the staff work as a team!

Not only is the atmosphere amazing and the staff friendly and efficient, the food is top notch. For OCEAN FRONT dining, you can’t beat $15-20 a plate. Especially with the type of service and all the fun they like to have. At one point we all stopped (EVERYONE literally) eating and serving and watched the last few moments of the sun going beyond the horizon. Then the fun began. They started having trivia questions about the movie seeing who was the most knowledgeable in the restaurant. It made for a fun and relaxing evening with great food.

Great service, good food. The restaurant is right on the water, so the atmosphere is great. There is a nice view of the sunset. They DO have more on the menu than shrimp.
