Goofy's Kitchen

This is the best place!

I personally hate the grab and go stuff in the park so we always plan to hop over to Goofys, it's just a monorail ride to the Disney hotel ( so you don't have to leave the park). They have great food and wonderful atmosphere. And to work off lunch a little there are great shops and things to see here as well.

We did a buffet character breakfast at Goofy's kitchen. Upon arrival we had the opportunity to have a family photo with chef Pluto. The best part of the experience were the characters. My kids were able to get the autographs of about 5-10 characters without the wait you get in the park. The characters come right up to the table while you are dining. They also did a song and dance in the middle of the restaurant. The food was buffet but for breakfast it was good. They offered everything from bacon and sausage to pancakes and waffles. Drinks brought to your table by a server. It was a little pricey but what at Disneyland isn't. It really gave you the full Disneyland experience. The characters hung around and were much more up close and personal than in the park. We got lots of pictures.

This is a great place for the family. Plenty of characters come right to your table to take pictures and sign autographs (please note that Mickey and Minnie are not ones that you will see here). It is a bit pricey for a buffet, but my children loved the small Mickey-shaped waffles and the peanut-butter-and-jelly pizza. I enjoyed the made-to-order omelets and abundance of pastries. All the food was delicious, but this is not a huge buffet with tons of options. They have adult and childrens basics, with a few unusual items added in. Overall, I would say this is a must for any Disney visit.

Goofy's Kitchen

The name fits the place: GOOFY'S Kitchen! This kid's utopia is located in the Disneyland Hotel. It's considered the number one character meeting spot anywhere in Disneyland, thus it's VERY popular.

You will almost always need reservations. Breakfast is popular, although this time we did dinner. The look of the restaurant is very plain and could be a large Denny's. The check-in process is slow and there is always a line and even with reservations a wait for a table. This visit all the help seemed a bit overwhelmed and a little like one of Snow White dwarfs: Grouchy.

The food is buffet and has some wild items like peanut butter and jelly pizza or a chocolate pudding crawling with hundreds of gummy worms. Don't fret they have buffet items for grownups as well, like cut meats and Mexican fajitas. The food isn't great, but it's okay. We have learned Disney is easy on the spices and things tend to be on the bland side anywhere in Disneyland. Also, the food all seemed lukewarm.

The wait staff was a bit off and it took them a while to take drink orders or refill empty glasses. It was spring break and I think everyone had finally had their fill of kids; it was hard to find a smile among the staff.

The kids love the characters and they come by for a visit often, almost too often! During different times of the meal the kids are invited to do the Macarena or a conga line with Goofy, Minnie, Belle, Aladdin, and the rest of the crew. It's full of activity and the kids adore it. The grownups can't wait to get through the meal although the smiles from the kids are worth the so-so food and spotty service.

One thing I was shocked to find at any Disney property was a filthy bathroom and the bathroom at Goofy's was just that -- filthy. . . Walt would not have been pleased!

If you missed out seeing characters in the park at Disneyland and you want lots of fun photos for your album, don't miss Goofy’s Kitchen. The buffet-style food is creative and not as good as some of the better buffets in Las Vegas; however, the character entertainment makes up for it. Characters make personal visits to your table where you have a private meeting to take photos and have them sign autograph books. The waits for tables are long, so call ahead and make reservations. This is a great place to eat after a long day of walking around.
