We had decided to go to a pub where there would be a play area for the children to run wild but when we went to the one we would normally visit it seemed everyone had the same idea and so it was very busy. As such we decided to try somewhere else and my friends daughter wanted to visit Pizza Hut. On this occasion we visited Pizza Hut in Pilsworth, Bury.

==What is Pizza Hut==

Pizza Hut, as the name suggests, is an establishment which sells Pizza! They do also offer pasta as a main course as well though but I am always of the mind that if I am going to Pizza Hut I may as well have pizza! Pizza hut do now offer unlimited salad with every main meal purchased which I think is a positive thing and really encourages you to eat more salad. Pizza hut is suited to families in my opinion but I do often note that couples seem to visit too.

Sometimes during the week you can get a good deal such as a week day buffet up until 3pm during the week and for just £6.99 for adults and £3.99 for children you can eat as much pizza, pasta and salad as you like from the buffet area. There is also a happy hour on week days from 3pm-5pm where you can have a choice of various pizzas, pastas and salad as well as a drink and a side for just £6.00. It makes sense to try and visit during these times because ordinarily a regular pizza will cost anything from £8.00 upwards to be honest.

Pizza hut is one of those places that is quite expensive were you to take the whole family and you would want a three course meal as starters start cost around £2-£4, mains cost around £8-£16 depending on what you order and puddings are around £4. each as well. Soft drinks cost £2.25 but these are refillable as many times as you want throughout your meal.

==Pizza Hut Pilsworth==

We decided to head to the Pizza Hut at Pilsworth as we had both been there before and knew where it was in relation to where we live. It is just off the M66 motorway and is situation across from a large asda. The Pizza Hut is on an estate with a Frankie and Benny’s behind it as well as a bowling alley to the right and a Mc Donalds across the way as well. A few years ago there was a Vue cinema nearby too but this shut down and so the site there remains empty.

When we went in to Pizza Hut I was quite surprised at how quiet it was given that it was 6pm on a Saturday. Perhaps the fact that there are cheaper options close by and the fact that the cinema has shut down has affected the popularity of this Pizza Hut as it used to be quite busy every time we went.

We were show to a large round table by a nice waitress who gave our children a kids fun pack which also doubles as a menu and a pot with some crayons in so that they could colour whilst we decided what we wanted to eat. The area around us was all very clean looking and free from clutter and plates from previous diners so presumably they do keep well on top of the cleaning. She asked at this point did we want any drinks and so we all ordered a bottomless drink. We were informed at this point that the children’s drinks that come with their meal are also bottomless which was nice to know. You can have fizzy drinks such as pepsi or you can also have squash refilled. As I browsed the menu I noticed that many of the dishes included calorie information which is certainly new from the last time I went to pizza hut. It was quite shocking really as I am supposed to be watching what I eat and the pizza I would like to order was going to have around 300 calories per slice! The calorie information was included on all of the starters and desserts for your information too.

Randomly the next time a waitress came to our table it was a totally different girl who did appear quite flustered to be honest. I noticed over the course of our meal that a man, who I presume to be the duty manager, was delegating an awful lot of tasks to the girl and they did seem slightly under staffed despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. When the girl took our order she was accommodating as my friend and I wanted to share a large cheesy bites pizza and wanted a different option on each half of our pizza. The children ordered pizza and an ice cream for dessert which is not included in the £3.99 price and costs an extra £1.00.

The waitress returned with bowls for us to go and get some salad from the salad bar. The children were given the same size bowls as us and are normally given much smaller ones so they were both pleased. The salad bar was well stocked with items such as lettuce, pastas, tomatoes, pickles, cous cous, bread sticks, sweetcorn and various other things. I do like the tortilla chips with some jalapeno’s and tomato salsa and as the salsa tub was empty I asked a waitress if there was any more and she topped it up quickly and with a smile which was nice to see. The children did go back for a couple of things as a novelty I think but my friend and I just ate the one bowl. I do think the free salad is perfect as a starter myself and there is no need to order a separate starter in my opinion as the main is usually very filling.

The children’s pizza came first and my son had cheese and tomato whilst my friends daughter had some ham too. Both were very hot and looked appetising. They both finished the bulk of their pizzas. When the pizza came for my friend and I a minute later we discovered the waitress had ordered extra cheese instead of chilli’s and so she apologised and took it back to the kitchen to add some chilli’s. We saw them grab these from the salad bar which wasn’t the best impression to give to be fair! I had ham and pineapple on my side of the pizza and there was plenty of pineapple but not much ham to be honest. The pizza was hot though and I enjoyed the cheesy bites around the crust. I could only eat two large pieces of my pizza and then I was full so I asked the waitress to box it up so I could give it to my Dad! She did this with a smile and was pleasant on her return. My friend also enjoyed her mushroom and chilli side of the pizza but wasn’t a fan of the cheesy bites. The pizza cost us around £15.00 between us which isn’t too much to pay I suppose.

The children were given bowls to help themselves to ice cream and went off to do this at the counter. They came back with a bowl full of ice cream decorated with smarties, chocolate raisins and dolly mixtures! They both ate their ice cream and really seemed to enjoy it.

The toilets were clean and well stocked with hand dryers, paper towels and soap as well as toilet paper.
Our bill came to just short of £29.00 for the four of us which wasn’t too bad but obviously we only really had one course and we did share a large pizza between the two of us. I think Pizza Hut is best value if you can go on one of the deal times to be honest but I would go back to this one.
