Bubba Gump's

My dinner experience was great. The restaurant is located in Pier 39, a great outdoor shopping mall, with tons of stores and restaurants. The restaurant offers a great service, with great views of San Franco's bay.
I really liked the decoration of the place, which has a lot of details from the Forrest Gump. The food they offer is basically seafood, but it also has great options for people who seafood is not their favourite.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company

The restaurant bearing the movie jargon of Forrest Gump was a fun place for dinner. We did not have a wait at all when we opted to sit at the bar. This was fine with me since the entire restaurant is smoke-free. As we sat in the bar area and we were able to watch the movie "Forrest Gump" during dinner. The atmosphere was casual and seaworthy.

They have a neat way of letting the wait staff you need assistance, you put up the "Stop Forrest Stop" license plate. It really does work, which is good since we rarely saw our waiter other than that. The menu was primarily seafood, but did have steak and chicken available. I had the stuffed shrimp—heavenly. Eight large shrimp was wrapped around (not stuffed with) a crab and shrimp mixture, then baked with Monterey jack cheese and served with rice and bread. My friend had the steak and stated it was on of the best she had found in California. The drink list was large and unique, and if you buy certain drinks you get a free glass with the Bubba Gump logo. Of course both the food and drink menu have Forrest type names that are quite cute. Prices ranged from $8 to 18. Even thought the price for our 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 drinks came to about $50, I would go back anytime I was back in California.

Of course, the restaurant is themed around the movie "Forrest Gump." When it's near the time for you to be seated, they call out your party name and invite you to head out to the dock for chow time. Basically it's a fancy way to make you wait in a standing line for another 10 or so minutes. The service was fast and friendly. I did like the little license plate frames on our table that said "Stop Forrest Stop," which did actually make the staff stop to see what we wanted! The food was okay but very overpriced. Everything has a cute name, of course. Jason enjoyed his fried chicken and my stuffed shrimp was okay. When we asked for the check, it was prompt in coming, and when our trainee waitress took our drinks before we were finished, we were given to-go cups filled with soda. I found the final bill to be outrageous (two sodas, two entrees, and one appetizer) at over $40. Something the staff didn't mention was that lemonade had to come from the bar and that refills were $0.95 each. We asked for soda instead.

This place is a blast. They have several locations across the United States, as well as some internationally. The entire restaurant is themed around the movie "Forrest Gump." All of the staff is full of knowledge about the movie, and they invite you to participate in trivia contests. The fun staff is one of the great features that bring this place alive.

The San Francisco location is located right at the end of Pier 39, so you get a full view of the marina and bay. The inside is full of decorations related to the movie. One of my favorite quotes inside the restaurant is the sign saying, "I gotta pee," posted above the entrance to the restrooms. That cracks me up every time.

I think one of the best features of this entire restaurant is how you call the attention of your waiter, or any waiter for that matter. On your table, you have two signs shaped like license plates, a blue one with the words "RUN FORREST RUN" and a red one with the words "STOP FORREST STOP." Anytime you need anything, you just flip the sign to "STOP FORREST STOP" and the nearest waiter will assist you, ensuring a quick response.

The food here is really good. I've thoroughly enjoyed it every time. Different entrées have names such as Bubba's Bucket of Boat Trash, Ping Pong Shrimp, and Hubba Bubba Fried Shrimp. My favorite is The Ultimate Combo. You definitely have to try Bubba's Far Out Dip. It's absolutely delicious. Their mixed drinks are very good as well.

All in all, this place has become one of my favorite spots to eat. The food is great, and the atmosphere is loads of fun.

Bubba Gump's

We ordered the "Bucket of Boat Trash" ($18.99) entree that consisted of fried baby lobster, shrimp, fries, and mahimahi--delish! Our server was very sweet and helpful. She even quizzed us on some of the scenes in the Forrest Gump movies; unfortunately, the prize was free tea refills and more napkins! I particularly liked the "Run Forrest Run" and "Stop Forrest Stop" signs that you could use to get any server to either stop by your table to assist you or keep going if you were satisfied. Very clever!
